HISTORY
Lois' Candies is the result of James Loizos' passion for chocolate.
Lois’ Candies began in 1956, when Jim and his parents opened the shop and quickly became known for making the best chocolates in Youngstown. After his parents passed, Jim continued running the store on his own for many years.
Everything changed the day Jim met Elsie Spiker. With Elsie by his side, he not only gained a partner in life but also in the candy business. Her family often pitched in at the shop, including her son Bill, who discovered his own interest in candy-making while helping his mother.
Bill spent years learning all of Jim’s secret recipes and traditions. Today, Bill carries on that sweet legacy, handcrafting all the chocolates at Lois’ Candies.
Jim passed away in September 2006, and he is deeply missed by everyone who knew him as “The Candy Man.”
